Valentine’s Day in Edinburgh? Look no further than Dulse

The ultimate guide for spending Valentine’s Day in Edinburgh.

Ah, love is in the air, and what better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than in the enchanting city of Edinburgh? Whether you're a local looking for a unique experience or a visitor seeking a romantic escape, look no further than Dulse Seafood and Wine. This hidden gem nestled in the heart of the city promises an unforgettable romantic event filled with the ever-iconic delectable delights that you all know and love.

Dulse is a culinary haven for anyone who loves seafood that has been prepared by an award-winning kitchen team. We source the best ingredients available from our long-standing, reputable suppliers across Scotland, alongside some amazing items that Chef Dean Banks and the team have foraged themselves.

The perfect setting for any Valentine’s Day celebration, let’s get into what you can expect when you join us at Dulse with your other half.

Kicking things off

To begin any visit to us, we always recommend beginning things in our bright and airy bar. From the moment you step in, you will be greeted by our talented team and an unrivalled atmosphere that, if we could bottle, we’d be millionaires ten times over.

Connor and the bar team will then be happy to whip you up one of their creative concoctions to get you in the mood. Enjoy one of our seafood-inspired numbers such as the iconic Dulse Martini, complete with a serving of caviar, naturally. Or, alternatively, we can recommend the Sugar and Spice, a delightful mix of Mond Vodka infused with citrus, ginger and lemongrass, topped with Champagne.

Cocktails not really your thing? Nothing quite beats a glass of the much-loved Devaux Champagne.

Now, what to accompany these incredible drinks? A plate of Scottish oysters, of course. We offer a range of incredible toppings to choose from too, frequently changing by the day. Your server will be able to advise which ones we have when you join us.

The main event

After enjoying a few libations and some oysters, it’s time to climb that iconic Stairway to Heaven and join us in the Dulse dining area.

For Valentine’s Day this year, we’ve decided to keep it simple with our core tasting menu. The tasting menu has cemented itself as one of the most remarkable offerings our guests love. It changes regularly, ensuring that only the finest, seasonal ingredients make it on there.

This year, we have an incredible selection of plates to enjoy, brought to you by the award-winning Chef Dean Banks and our culinary team.

Some examples what you can expect on the day include – our salt-baked fritter with a vibrant saffron aioli, cured mackerel with coriander, jalapeno and rhubarb, the iconic moules marinière crumpet, pan-roasted cod with squash and a truffle pesto, and finishing with a sticky toffee madeleine, with a pumpkin seed praline parfait.

Our Michelin-recommended, two AA rosette-awarded restaurant always tends to fill up fast, so we would always advise calling ahead. Should you have forgotten or left it a little late, the team will always strive to seat you whenever possible, but please note this isn’t always feasible.
